WILD ELEPHANT ENTERS RAIGUNJ

Webdesk, TNI Raigunj, 13th December, 2015: Subhashgunj area of Raigunj bored the brunt of a wild elephant today morning. It is interesting to see that there is no forest cover in an around Subhashgunj of Raiganj. Villagers were surprised to see the giant tusker trampling their village households. Police have reached the spot and forest officials. The forest officials are equally surprised to see the elephant in this area and are also stunned. This was the main reason that there is not enough equipment for controlling the elephant like tranquilizer shots, nets or fire guns. According to the forest department a team from Siliguri is on the way to take positions and send the elephant to the forest areas. Wildlife expert Subrata Pal Choudhury and two Kunki elephants named ‘Hillary’ and ‘Kaveri’ were called in from Gorumara range to tackle the wild tusker. Latest reports also say that a child was also injured which playfully chasing the elephant. He was admitted to Raiganj Hospital.
